They found there final resting places here. The cemetery was turned into a fitting place of remembrance with a mosaic showing the slave trade routes.

The site features individual African symbols... read more and their meanings - which was really enlightening and actually quite beautiful. The "collective consciousness" held by African slaves helped them deal with their struggles together and gave them hope for a brighter day. It was really very moving to read about their deep faith.
